AZ-TEC - SBS Modified Flashing Cement
Specification Sheet

COMPLIANCE: EXCEEDS ASTM D6511, ASTM D3409, ASTM D4586, TYPE I ASBESTOS FREE California products meet Los Angeles County A.P.C.D. (Rule #102).
DESCRIPTION: AZTEC COATINGS™ SBS Modified Flashing Cement is a professional grade, polymer modified flashing cement specially formulated for use with modified bitumen membranes, base sheets and ply sheets. AZTEC COATINGS™ is manufactured using select asphalt, rubber, solvent and fibers. It provides excellent elongation and recovery properties plus enhanced adhesive properties and durability. It is ideal for seams, flashings and repairs on SBS modified membranes. AZTEC COATINGS™ is also excellent for repairs on conventional built-up roofing membranes where movement is expected to occur. AZTEC COATINGS™ eliminates burn hazards associated with hot kettles and propane torches, and is ideal where their use is prohibited.
NOTE: This product is formulated for repairs and seams on SBS Asphalt Modified Roll Roofing Sheets. Do not use as a replacement for torchdown or other techniques such as "Torching/Polyolefin Film," EPDM, PVC or other single ply membranes without approval of membrane manufacturer.
PREPARATION: All surfaces must have proper drainage and be clean, and free of surface rust and any other foreign matter. Excessive particulate surfacing materials on modified membranes must be removed (sweeping with a stiff broom is recommended) prior to application. On reroofing applications, all deck and existing membrane repairs should be made first. Severely weathered BUR membranes may require a pre-application of asphalt primer. Metal surfaces must have all rust and scale removed. DO NOT HEAT OR THIN.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Apply on clear sunny day when surface temperatures are between 50° and 120° F. In colder weather product should be stored in heated room (65° to 80° F.) at least 24 hours prior to application. After a minimum of 45 days cure time, apply a reflective coating. This will greatly extend the life of the roof.
APPLICATION: Protective clothing and eyewear should be used during application of this product. Apply with trowel or putty knife, working material to an even consistency over and into the area to be repaired. Apply 1/8" to 1/4" thick, two to three inches beyond the problem area. For cracks or holes 1/4" to 3/4" wide, press a strip of fabric into the cements and cover with an additional layer of flashing cement. Form a cant with the cement around chimneys and other roof projections. Coverage rate is approximately 12 1/2 sq. ft. per gallon when applied 1/8" thick. For best results during reroofing, cut the mod-bit sheets to a maximum of 18 ft. lengths and allow to relax on job site before application.
PRECAUTIONS: When transporting this product, ensure that lid is tight and pail secure and upright. Do not allow pail to tumble as this may cause lid to loosen and leakage to occur. Do not store at temperatures above 110° F. This manufacturer also disclaims liability for flat surface application where poor drainage or moisture may prevail. For exterior use only. Do not reuse empty containers.
CLEAN-UP: Clean tools with paint thinner or mineral spirits.
